Christmas, 2009

Caden, Pop, Grandma, and Makenzie

Makenzie and Caden on their first "ponies".

I am so glad that we had Christmas with all the family last weekend. Sara, Jake and Makenzie came home from Colorado. Jacob, Amber and Caden were here both days. Micah finished college finals and was able to spend both days with us, too. He brought his girlfriend, Amy, home to enjoy Christmas dinner.

Christmas dinner was enjoyed by all:

Gifts were exchanged,

Sara made Micah 5 shadow boxes, displaying his AQHYA Youth World Show ribbons and pictures,

and we watched the grandbabies played.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day has turned into a winter wonderland. Starting with a misty rain that turned to ice on everything it touched since Wednesday, the late afternoon drive home was slow. Rain turned to sleet, and by Thursday morning, the roads were icy. I was able to stay home, and the weather stayed grey all day Thursday. But later afternoon, churches were canceling Christmas Eve service, the wind blew, and continued to blow all night. By morning, we had another 6-9" of snow. With the wind, the blowing snow turned into 3-4' drifts.

Sara, Jake and Makenzie would not have gotten home. As it was, we told the 2 boys to stay in town today. The highway would be drifted and slick. On top of the bad weather, I was sick with a sore throat since Wed night and went to bed, on Christmas Eve, with a 102 temp! I feel better today, and it has been a relaxing day, staying in jammies until noon, watching movies, and drinking hot soup from mugs!

Time for another movie, with hot popcorn. Which movie? Christmas Story, of course! lol

Looks like a fabulous time with family, what darling grandkids! I'm sorry you were feeling under the weather, but sometimes being trapped inside on a snowy day can be kind of cozy- as you showed with a great movie and snacks! :) I hope everyone is safe and warm and be careful out there! Happy new year!

thanks everyone. I'm feeling better this morning, Saturday. But now we woke up to no electric at 1 am, and just now, I am told it could be 12 more hours! The big electric truck is stuck in a drift near us! Tom went out to help dig them out. The graders can't even get here! oh, the joys of winter!
