Lincoln Zoo

June 7, 2011
We had an outing to the Lincoln Zoo on Tuesday, and Caden, Tyler, Jacob, Amber and Uncle Micah came along.  We had record high temps Monday and Tuesday here, of 99-101, but by evening, it was pleasant to walk around our little zoo.

The highlight of the zoo trip was the train!

But first we walked around the zoo, and saw

the penguins with Pop and mommy,

Caden was waiting for them to go swimming.

 Caden rode the butterfly,

and he walked beside the huge turtle!

 Beautiful colors!

Caden wasn't sure he wanted to feed the lion, but he was clapping afterwards!

Tyler slept the whole time!

Then we rode the train with Mommy and Daddy!

Caden was so excited.  Tyler stayed with Uncle Micah.

Then Caden rode the train again with Grandma and Pop.

But then he didn't want to leave.

He wouldn't leave the railroad tracks!  Daddy had to show him the flashing sign.

I loved that zoo when I was a kid. I didn't grow up in Lincoln, but it was a place we visited frequently when we "vacationed to the city".

I used to take the kids to the zoo all the time when they were little. It had been a long time since I've been there.

Fun family times. Caden is a cutie patootie! Penguins are one of my favorite animals. Our zoo is supposed to be getting them soon, too. Hooray!
So what did Caden feed the lion?

The lion is a garbage can, so Caden finally fed it a piece of paper! LOL It was like a vacuum and sucked the paper in!
